What WaterHealthCheck is

WaterHealthCheck is a free water quality information service. Reports are built from public federal data—primarily EPA SDWIS and UCMR5—and are provided for general informational purposes. The service is free to use. No warranty is provided.

Not advice

Nothing on WaterHealthCheck is medical, legal, or regulatory advice. Reports present publicly available data in readable form—they do not constitute recommendations for medical treatment, legal action, or regulatory compliance decisions.

If you have health concerns related to your water, consult a qualified health professional. If you have regulatory or compliance questions, consult your water utility or local health authority.

Accuracy of data

Data in reports is as accurate as the underlying EPA source records. Errors in source data—including misreported measurements, utility record errors, or incomplete monitoring—may appear in reports. We do not independently verify individual measurements against utility records.

If you believe a report contains an error, please let us know at support@waterhealthcheck.com with the city, ZIP, and the specific data point that appears incorrect. We investigate reported errors and correct them where the source data supports it.

Data processing and pipeline errors

WaterHealthCheck ingests data from public federal sources and processes it for display. While we take reasonable care in this process, errors may be introduced during data ingestion, transformation, mapping, or display — separate from any errors in the underlying source data.

We do not warrant that any figure, level, status indicator, score, or recommendation displayed in a report is free from processing errors. If you are making a decision with significant health, financial, or legal consequences, verify the underlying data directly with the EPA, your water utility, or a qualified professional before acting.

Utility-level data, not point-of-use

Reports reflect utility-level monitoring data—what the utility reports to EPA. Your point-of-use conditions may differ. Older building plumbing, lead service lines not yet replaced, and other factors can result in higher contaminant levels at your tap than utility monitoring data shows. This is noted in reports where relevant, particularly for lead.

Not a substitute for official reports

WaterHealthCheck is not a substitute for your water utility's official Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), which utilities are required to provide annually. For regulatory purposes, the CCR is the authoritative document. WaterHealthCheck makes the same underlying data more accessible—it does not replace the official record.

Use of the service

You may use WaterHealthCheck freely for personal, clinical, or research purposes. You may not use automated means to bulk-query the service in ways that degrade performance for other users. You may not represent WaterHealthCheck reports as official regulatory documents.

Disclaimer of warranties

WaterHealthCheck is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data presented is complete, accurate, or current. Your use of the service is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WaterHealthCheck and its operators and its operators, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the service
  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in data displayed in reports
  • Any decision made in reliance on data presented by the service
  • Any interruption or cessation of the service

This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

User reliance

Any action you take based on information presented in a WaterHealthCheck report is taken at your own discretion and risk. WaterHealthCheck is not responsible for the consequences of decisions made in reliance on report data. Where health, safety, or regulatory decisions are involved, consult a qualified professional and verify data against primary sources.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WaterHealthCheck and its operators, its operators, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses — including reasonable legal fees—arising from your use of the service or your violation of these terms.

Clinical and professional use

Health practitioners and other professionals who use WaterHealthCheck data in a clinical or advisory context do so at their own professional discretion. WaterHealthCheck reports are not a substitute for laboratory testing, clinical assessment, or professional judgement. No practitioner–patient or professional–client relationship is created by use of this service.

Third-party links

Reports may include links to Drawn Health (drawnhealth.com), an independent water wellness consultancy. Drawn Health is a separate service with its own terms of use and privacy policy. WaterHealthCheck is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Mexico, USA. Any disputes arising from use of this service will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
